In recent years, Third-Party Funding (TPF) has rapidly gained recognition as a viable option for businesses considering litigation or international arbitration.
TPF enables parties to pursue legal claims without using their own funds, opening up new options for turning legal risk into a strategic asset.
The seminar will welcome Ms. Earl Rivera-Dorera, who has extensive experience in over 200 international arbitration cases as an arbitrator, counsel/counsel and hearing assistant.
The seminar will share the basics of TPF, trends in major countries, important considerations for Japanese companies, and practical insights based on actual cases.
The first half will be in Japanese, and the second half will be presented at a leisurely pace using slides in both English and Japanese so that everyone can understand the content.

Earl Rivera-Dolera is a partner at TKI Law Firm.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Keegan was Head of the International Arbitration Department and Partner at Frasers Law Company (formerly Freehills) in Vietnam, where he represented corporations and individuals in arbitrations under the rules of the major arbitration institutions (ICC, SIAC, VIAC, JCAA), commercial mediations under the SIMC Rules in Singapore, and ad hoc arbitrations in New York.
He also has experience leading teams responsible for compliance and investigations work, primarily on construction projects in remote areas of Southeast Asia.
Additionally, she has acted as an Independent Arbitrator and Tribunal Secretary to a prominent international arbitrator before The Arbitration Chambers in Singapore and has been involved in over 200 cases in various capacities.
Earl also serves as an arbitrator appointed by major arbitration institutions as chair, sole arbitrator and party-appointed arbitrator.
She has also co-authored two editions of Halsbury's Laws of Singapore: Arbitration and authored the leading essay, Arbitration in Vietnam.
He is qualified to practice law in England and Wales, New York and Texas (USA) and the Philippines.
Additionally, she is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.

He was registered as an attorney in 2005 (Daiichi Tokyo Bar Association), received his LLM from University College London in 2013, and has been a member of the dispute resolution team at a major US law firm since 2015. He joined Tokyo International Law Office in 2023. He has been widely engaged in dispute resolution between domestic and international companies (litigation, arbitration, mediation, negotiation), in-company fraud investigations (domestic companies, overseas subsidiaries) as a certified fraud examiner, special investigation committees, and emergency response to corporate restructuring and bankruptcy. He is also a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Bid Monitoring Committee.
