Part1: Identifying, Protecting and Asserting Trade Secrets – a United States Litigator’s Perspective
Lisa Kattan and Jennifer Tempesta will provide an analysis of how best to identify and protect trade secrets on the one hand, and then also how to defend against trade secret claims on the other.

Part2: Underutilized Defenses in District Court and International Trade Commission Patent Litigation in the United States
Rob Maier and Mike Knierim will provide insight on creative strategies to utilize in defending against patent infringement assertions in different forums in the U.S. in order to more effectively end such cases earlier than typically expected.

Part3: How to Effectively Manage Electronic Discovery in United States Patent Litigation—A Cooperative Approach Between Law Firms and E-Discovery Support Services
Thomas Natsume of Baker Botts and Shiho Tanaka of FRONTEO will discuss best practices for collaboration between law firms and e-discovery providers in connection with discovery of electronically stored information in patent litigation.

Parts 2 and XNUMX will be conducted in English (with simultaneous interpretation into Japanese), and Part XNUMX will be conducted in Japanese (with simultaneous interpretation into English).

Lisa Kattan serves as Baker Botts' International Trade Commission Practice Group Chair and the Chair of the firm's Washington D.C. IP group.
