[3/14 FRONTEO Life Science AI Business Academy] Promotion of DX in drug discovery research undertaken by Daiichi Sankyo
Daiichi Sankyo Medicinal Chemistry Research Laboratories started promoting data-driven drug discovery (D4: Data-Driven Drug Discovery) in 2019 to realize DX in medicinal chemistry research. By promoting D4, we aim to accelerate and improve the efficiency of the process up to the creation of development candidates, and to foster a culture that enables highly accurate decisions based on data.
As these measures, we have transformed the entire research process based on three main points: human resource development, data maintenance, and compound management.Specifically, in terms of human resource development, an AI drug discovery specialist group was newly established within the research institute, and a system for cyclically developing hybrid human resources of medicinal chemists and data scientists was constructed.Regarding data maintenance, we are expanding the data utilization infrastructure, such as introducing visualization tools for data analysis and building prediction methods and structure generation methods using AI.In terms of compound management, we are improving compound logistics through a sample management system and operating the HTS library from a long-term perspective.
