[12/19 28th Economic Security Study Session] Situation in the Taiwan Strait from the perspective of US-China high-tech friction
The prolonged high-tech friction between the US and China, centered on semiconductors, is increasing tensions in the Taiwan Strait. The Chinese government and industry have placed emphasis on collaborating with Taiwanese companies and human resources in order to expand domestic production of semiconductors, which is a long-awaited goal, but this path was cut short due to sanctions against China by the United States. On the other hand, some believe that Taiwan is using local semiconductor industries such as TSMC as a "silicon shield" to deter China. In this lecture, I will explain the current state and outlook of the high-tech triangle between the United States, China, and Taiwan, taking into account the outcome of Taiwan's presidential election, which will be counted in January next year.
